Winner's Trip to Berlin

An excerpt from my journal upon leaving our 3 days in Berlin:

April 17

"This weekend has been surprisingly one of my best trips so far. I was happy with the variety of interesting, fun, intelligent people around me. I felt comfortable with them and in the city. We got to see so many sites in our three days and it feels like I got a comprehensive experience of the important historical locations. I was constantly engaged by the interesting things around me: the history, the architecture, the locals, the psychology of the people. We shared so many laughs with the faculty, who were fun and sweet and not intimidating in the slightest. We had free time and freedom, and the night life (and day life?) was incredible despite some persistent rain. The vibe of Berlin is wonderful, which is hard to describe in specifics besides how content I feel watching the city out the window of our bus or walking through a Turkish street market. Good job turning in that orientation essay, because I probably wouldn't have been interested enough to go to Berlin without this trip, and that would've been a shame."
