Top 3 Cafés Near Máchova and Slezska

Vinohrady may have wine in its name, but that doesn’t mean its caffeine scene is anywhere near subpar. Maybe you're looking for a quick pick-me-up. Or maybe you just want a nice place to study and chill. Either way, check out these three great kavarnas in the area!

Marthy’s Kitchen - Francouzská 13, 120 00 Praha 2

Popular for both brunch and their coffee, Marthy’s Kitchen is a favorite of NYU students. Many people swear by their lattes. As you sit down, you are greeted by wooden or white tabletops accented by colorful flowers – perfect for pictures! From egg benedict to avocado toast, Marthy’s has all the essentials of an ideal brunch.

When I visited, I ordered the vegetarian breakfast (açai bowl), and red currant and mint lemonade. The lemonade was surprisingly good, and I would recommend trying one of the unique variations at least once. If you are looking for a place to grab a late meal, Marthy’s Kitchen is also open until 10 PM, even on Sundays! They serve a dinner menu (pictured is the goat cheese galette), complimentary with romantic candlelit lighting, as well as desserts like fresh crème brulée.

Coffee Contact - Francouzska 966/33, 120 00 Praha 2-Vinohrady

The trendy logo is the first thing you see when you arrive at the main road from Máchova street. Inside, you’re drawn immediately towards the window seats lined with colorful cushions. The perfect start to the morning, or the perfect afternoon break… all a mere 5 minutes away from your doorstep.

Although the brunch menu is not extensive, Coffee Contact serves all the basics such as oatmeal, which I personally loved. In addition to the spacious interior and friendly service, Coffee Contact also operates as a bar! Best of both worlds?

Monolok Café - Moravská 1540/18, 120 00 Praha 2

With seating outdoors, inside, on a lower floor, and on a back patio, it is easy to find a spot and settle in to this beautifully designed café. The modern interior features comfortable couches at every corner. Though it is a little pricey, the ambience is amazing and completely worth it. On top of typical brunch dishes, Monolok also boasts some less common offerings such as beetroot lattes, and green tea lattes.

Pictured above is the Green Tea Latte and Lavender Cheesecake. The staff are truly passionate about their store, with friendly service and helpful recommendations. The great overall experience marks Monolok as my personal favorite in the area.
